Big Curls and Waves, Without the Blowout

Saturday, November 22, 2014

One of the things I always hated the most when I wanted to "Kim Kardashian" curl my hair is the fact that I had to straighten it first...

After spending an HOUR straightening my hair, making sure nothing was frizzy, I THEN was able to curl it, but not without dousing it in hair spray to get it to hold the curl...So my now clean hair was considerably dirty, and will surely begin its usual: hair-spray-residue-that-resembles-lice-or-flakey-skin-that-people-feel-the-need-to-point-out-to-you.

How annoying.

Anyways, it was until one lazy morning, where I decided to shower the night before and sleep on it wet, and curl it the next morning, regardless of what it looked like. To my surprise, this not only held the curl better than straightening it first, but it cut the time by more than half!!

The next step was to try to see if the curls could be achieved the SAME DAY by blow drying the hairs enough to get them dry, but just not super straight........... Eureka!

With that being said, lets just jump into the video/tutorial:

I hope this helps!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Friday, November 14, 2014

After having my son, I noticed my slightly bald patch had become way more obvious.
Hair was falling out left and right. I would swiffer daily and find enough hair to make a wig every 2-3 days!

With that being said, I decided to look into ways to deal with the temporary loss, and put them into videos for you! I hope you enjoy, and please leave a comment if you have used the items, or have some tips and tricks of your own to share!

Review of the L'Oréal Arginine Resist X3

L'Oréal Arginine Resist X3

A little while back I had seen a commercial for the L'Oréal Arginine Resist X3 Shampoo and Conditioner.
Being the skeptic that I am, I ignored the commercial and carried on with my day.. I mean...I cant say its a FACT that J-Lo doesnt wash her own hair....but if you read some of the outrageous Diva-ish demands she makes for her movie and concert dressing rooms, then you know there is prolly no chance in heck she:

A - washes or blow dries her own hair, and
B - Uses L'Oréal when she has a WORLD of priceless beauty products at her disposal...

That being said...I went shopping one day and like usual...walked up and down the beauty isles and found the whole Arginine Resist line on sale! I thought...Meh...its a sign...pick up a bottle to try it out.

This is the FIRST time I've monitored and documented a products results. It was kinda exciting....
But not the kind of exciting like last summer when I planted my first vegetable garden from seeds into little carton pots, and it didnt grow fast enough in 3 days for me to be able to pick and eat stuff off of it, so I gave up, didnt water it....and it eventually died..

NO, this was MUCH more exciting. Because if it didnt work, I was determined to write to L'Oréal and complain about the false advertisement their product was putting out there....Man....I was TOTALLY surprised to find that after a month and a half, the product did exactly what it promised!!

My split ends were GONE and my hair-fall had gone from a hand-full to hand-none!
Well...not none....peep the photos....but it may as well have been!!!

I wasnt sponsored by L'Oréal to do this review...but man, they sure do need to promote this product better...because it has been a miracle for me. I lose so much hair on a daily basis..shower and daily. I still cannot believe the amount of hair that is staying put now!

Here is the disgusting photo of my hair bag experiment for your viewing pleasure:

Truly repulsive...But hey...its proof!

Here is a video review I did of the product, I hope you guys enjoyed, and let me know how your experiments with this line goes!!! Post your disgusting hair bag photos in the thread when you've completed it!

Till next time!

4 Day old hair - No More!

6 Tips/Tricks on How to DE-GREASE Your Oily Hair

Monday, December 17, 2012

Well well well.....look who FINALLY got around to making another video....(and if you dont watch my videos, and came here just to read)...I FINALLY got around to posting a blog entry too!

I've been straightening my hair way more than usual lately, and because my face is SUPER greasy, my hair only lasts 2 days before looking like its been dirty for months....The good news is, I can usually cheat the third day by dusting it with some powder to save me from having to wake up super early in the morning - shower - blow dry - get to work. Now its: sleep in - wake up 30 mins before i have to leave - dust my hair - paint my face - get to work. Much better.

Let me go over some of the topics in the video so you dont have to waste time watching if you dont want to....although it would be nice if you did too! =)

Photo stolen from eyeliningobsessions.blogspot.com -  Couldnt use my own cause i REFUSE to buy this again!

1. Dry Shampoo.
I am 100% NOT a fan of dry shampoo. I used to make fun of my sister all the time for using it cause she never properly brushed it out and her hair always looked GREEN!
Reasons why i hate it? It smells horrid, it looks AND feels gross. and lastly, it made my hair look greasier than it was to begin with! Once you have to brush it down, it made it worse in my opinion!
Now some people may say it worked for them. Fine. But for me...it was a failure.

2. Dust It Powder/Misc. powders
I've used these before, and they work pretty good...unless you use too much.then you've ruined your hair, and it gets flat, and feels horrible! Not to mention, when you scrunch it around in your hair it feels....sticky and dry and brittle all at once! Watch the video i made to see how to use it.

3. Baby Powder.
I used the Johnsons Baby Powder with Corn Starch already in it. LOVEEEE THIS!
Sprinkle some into a plate, or lid, and using a make up brush gently tap it into your roots and wherever else your hair needs a lift! If you're looking for a cheap, effective way to degrease, THIS it is!

4. Baby Powder & Corn Starch.
If you decide to use this method, I suggest you mix equal parts of both powders. If you're only making a little, use 1 tablespoon of each. If you're making more use 1/3 cup of corn starch, and 1/3 cup of baby powder.....and so on for whatever other measurements you have planned. It doesn't take long to mix, so you can just make it as you go for the month.

5. Flour, Baking Soda, Cocoa
The rest of these powders will all work the same. the only thing about the cocoa is that it works better for darker hair - but you will smell like a chocolate bar all day, lol. Someone also mentioned that the flour adds a bit of volume...worth a shot!

6. Cheesecloth/Guaze and a comb
Another super easy method if you dont wanna put powders in your hair is to just use cheesecloth or a guaze and poke it thru your paddle brush and comb your hair! It doesnt remove ALLLLL oils, but its not bad!
You do have to brush thru a few times...

If your hair is TOO dirty/oily, do not do this.
The cloth will absorb it and spread it around to the rest of your hair!
(Tried & Tested) -_-

Anywho! Thats the verbal breakdown of the video, but if you feel like you need a visual (I know i usually do) check out the video below:

After I had made this video, the most common question i received was:

1. Does the scarf have to be silk
2. Silk is too expensive, where else can i buy it, or can i use satin?

I have now posted a video to help you DIY your own silk scarf for less than 6 bucks!

anyways, i totally regret it now, cause i've completely lost my voice, my nose is COMPLETELY clogged, and i cant undo it....and my throat feels like its on fire...

i know it didnt seem like i was dying on the camera, but i had to redo so many scenes cause of dry cough/hacking. Sexy, huh?
